Image to video means starting from a still picture and letting AI add motion: the image becomes the first frame, and a short text prompt says what moves and how the camera behaves. ClipWhim does exactly that – upload a JPG, PNG or WebP, describe the motion, and get a 3- or 5-second 16:9 MP4 at 480p or 720p, rendered by the Mischief 1 model. Try it right here:

JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 4 MB. Mischief 1 is image-to-video only – a first-frame image is required. Output: widescreen · 16 fps · MP4 · no audio. Only upload images you own; no real people without consent.

ClipWhim is image-to-video only. It does not generate video from text alone, and clips have no audio. If you need text-to-video, see alternatives.

How to turn an image into a video

  1. Pick a first frame. A sharp, landscape (16:9) image with a clear subject works best.
  2. Describe the motion. One camera move plus what moves, e.g. "Slow push-in, steam rises from the cup, everything else stays still."
  3. Choose length and resolution. 3 or 5 seconds, 480p or 720p. Test at 480p first.
  4. Generate and download. Download the MP4 when it is ready; failed generations are refunded automatically.

Product photo to video

Turn a packshot into a short motion clip for a product page, ad or deck: a light sweep across glass, steam from a cup, a slow turntable move.

Real Mischief 1 output. Prompt: Water bursts in slow motion around the bottle while petals spin; camera orbits slowly.
  • Use a clean, well-lit packshot with space around the product.
  • Say what must not change: “the label stays legible”.
  • Prefer motion around the product over motion of the product.

Animate AI art and illustrations

Bring Midjourney, Flux or hand-drawn art to life with drifting clouds, falling petals or a slow camera glide – stylised images hide small inconsistencies well.

Real Mischief 1 output. Prompt: Sweeping aerial flythrough toward the crystal castle; waterfalls pour into the clouds.
  • Name the style to keep (“keep the watercolour texture”).
  • Crop out text and speech bubbles first.
  • Environmental motion beats character action.

Animate photos and portraits

Add breathing, a blink, wind in the hair or a slow push-in to a portrait or travel photo. Only animate people who agreed to it.

Real Mischief 1 output. Prompt: The old fisherman turns to the camera and smiles; sea mist drifts; the boat rocks.
  • Small motions: blink, smile, hair, fabric.
  • One gesture per clip.
  • Consent is required for real people; no minors.

Pet photos to video

An ear twitch, tail wag or a run through the grass turns a favourite pet photo into a shareable loop.

Real Mischief 1 output. Prompt: The puppy bounds toward the camera through the flowers, ears flapping; camera tracks backward.
  • Head tilts and blinks are most reliable.
  • Running works but needs more retries.

Ads, UGC and social loops

Make scroll-stopping 16:9 hero moments for ads, landing pages and YouTube – handheld UGC looks, food steam, car tracking shots.

Real Mischief 1 output. Prompt: Handheld camera walks backward as he strolls toward it, laughing; warm film look.
  • Output is 16:9; crop for vertical platforms.
  • Clips are silent – add music in an editor.

Frequently asked questions

Can I turn a photo into a video for free?
Yes, to try it: new Google sign-ups get 20 free credits, enough for two 5-second 720p clips or four 5-second 480p clips.
Does ClipWhim do text-to-video?
No. Every video starts from an image you upload. The prompt describes the motion.
What image works best?
A sharp landscape (16:9) image with a clear subject and some space around it. Output is always 16:9, so a landscape first frame gives the most predictable result.
Can I use the videos commercially?
Paid plans include commercial use, subject to our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy and your rights to the input image.
